UNITED/CONTINENTAL  AIRLINES has now implemented the fourth and fifth service centers for their B747, B777, B787 and A350 maintenance and FAA reporting system. After a successful partnership, and implementation of GEC systems at United’s Chicago (ORD), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington Dulles (IAD) stations, a fourth system was delivered earlier this year to its Denver (DEN) station. United’s fifth system on order will be delivered later this year to its Newark (EWR) Station. United’s most recent delivery, at its Denver (DEN) station, was presented with GEC’s one of a kind SmartStick technology. This gives the user complete control of the entire platform system at the touch of a windows tablet. DEN personnel were impressed with the ease of use and time saving of the new technology using GEC’s propriety W&B software. United will also be receiving this technology on all new implemented systems, including the scheduled delivery to its EWR station.

United chose GEC’s aircraft weight and balance system for use at Chicago (ORD) and San Francisco (SFO), concluding two years of rigorous testing and detailed monitoring.  GEC’s recently delivered the 3rd system will be placed at Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington, DC.  Several top United Executives quoted and confirmed, “the savings, not only in aircraft performance, increased payload, and fuel conservation, but safety for the equipment operators, inspectors, ground crew and ultimately our passengers more than justifies the cost”. General Electrodynamics Corporation (GEC) recently completed delivery, on-schedule, of over 250 kits to an unspecified customer for computing accurate weight and balance of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)  RQ-7 Shadow aircraft. GEC’s equipment was selected by the customer due to GEC’s piezoelectric sensor deployed in their scales. The US Army customer couldn’t achieve the needed accuracy with typical shear-beam technology as used by other aircraft scale manufactures. The system passed all first article and environmental testing. Each individual scale reads in one-tenth of 1 increment throughout the full range with an accuracy of .1%. A representative said, this is breakthrough technology GEC uses and we’ve never seen the accuracy and repeatability at such weight ranges. The kit contained 3 ultra-light low profile scales, 3 ramps, hand-held device, proprietary weight and balance software and transportable case. The customer plans to procure more kits in FY2015 & FY2016.
